The Basics of Dowsing

    DOWSING, historically, is best known
for its ability to find water and
other missing objects, rather like a
    psychic metal detector.  Dowsing is
popularly portrayed as a forked stick,
with the dowser holding the forked end
of the stick, the other end of the
    stick being pulled downwards, upwards,
or in another direction as the dowser
walks over or near the sought-for
    object.

Dowsing also seems to be one of the most widely accepted forms of
divination. The most common dowsing rods for divination look like
the picture shown above.

Before using, cleanse the rods by smudging (using incense),
praying to your favorite deity or god/God, blessing them, or
whatever method works best for you.  The idea is not to let
anything harmful influence the rods.

HOW TO USE THEM:

Hold the dowsing rods about shoulder length apart, and do not grip
tightly.  Relax your arms and just hold them as it feels
appropriate.  Dowsing rods are usually used in pairs.  Using only
one rod is possible, though not as effective.

To find something, just start walking.  Try a few times, perhaps
with a bowl of water nearby, and walk past it with the intention
of finding water. The rods may point towards it as you walk past,
indicating that you should change direction and walk in the
direction the rods are pointing.

Work with them, with practice you should be able to interpret what
they are trying to tell you.

Remember, always use
PROTECTION when using any TOOL of DIVINATION.
