| Basics of Reiki |

Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes "healing". It is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy. The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words - Rei which means "God's Wisdom or the Higher Power" and Ki which is "life force energy". So Reiki is actually "spiritually guided life force energy." A treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around you. Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and wellbeing. Many have reported miraculous results. Reiki is a simple, natural and safe method of spiritual healing and self-improvement that everyone can use. It has been effective in helping virtually every known illness and malady and always creates a beneficial effect. It also works in conjunction with all other medical or therapeutic techniques to relieve side effects and promote recovery. An amazingly simple technique to learn, Its use is not dependent on one's intellectual capacity or spiritual development and therefore is available to everyone. It has been successfully taught to thousands of people of all ages and backgrounds. While Reiki is spiritual in nature, it is not a religion. It has no dogma, and there is nothing you must believe in order to learn and use Reiki. HOW I WAS TAUGHT TO DO IT: The way that I learned Reiki is through the use of the four elements (air, water, fire, earth) and my own "visualization" in order to promote pain relief and healing in another person. IT WORKS AS SUCH: (1) First and foremost say a small prayer defining your intent. What do you wish to accomplish? (2) Create a scale for each of the four elements (let's say one to five) -- plus one for "spirit" and one for "balance". In the scale, "1" means the area needs MORE of that element, and "5" means the area has ENOUGH of that element.
EARTH (1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5) FIRE (1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5) WATER (1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5) SPIRIT (1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5) BALANCE (1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5) (3) Memorize the "IMAGE" representing each of the above mentioned six items. The images are: (4) Place one hand in the air and ask the "element" to work within the affect area (let's say a knee). (5) Place your other hand right above the knee (not touching it), and in your mind visualize the image of the element right above the knee. (6) Then visualize the scale from one to five, until you "feel" that the scale has reached a five -- and then move to the next element -- until all four elements indicate a five (or enough). (7) Once done with the four elements, do the same with the image for SPIRIT and BALANCE. Repeat sessions as needed, but always remember to thank the universe and the elements for allowing you to help this individual. |
